Waiver of Liability

We recommend boarding your dog only if necessary as there are inherent risks in boarding your dogs with other dogs in a cage-free environment. Other alternatives include getting a family member to help take care of your dog or getting a house sitter to come and visit. There also pet hotels that offer individual suits/cages.

In this section, we detail the possible risks for your assessment and also discuss our responsibilities.

It will be good new for for you to know that we will not hold customers liable for bites, falls, diseases, injuries caused by their dogs to our handlers as well as property damage.

If you like to engage our services, you will be required to fill in the form at the bottom of the page. Signing a waiver of liability doesn’t mean that we will do our job lesser, it just means that you understand the risks involved and make a more informed decision. The risks that are stated here are risks that can happen at any boarding facility. We will also be able to do our job better knowing you have our back when accidents events happen.

Risks of Boarding your DoG (this list is not exhaustive)

Disease and viruses can be mitigated by vaccinations e.g. annual vaccination, kennel cough vaccination, canine influenza vaccination etc. But do note that not all viruses can be effectively vaccinated.
Fleas and ticks can be prevented by medications like Nexgard, Frontline and Simparica quite effectively
Stress. Being in a new environment is stressful for most dogs. Stressed dogs may not eat and even get stress diarrhea.
Bloody diarrhea. The exact cause of Acute hemorrhagic diarrhea is unknown but stress is known to be contributing factor.
Escaping while on leash. We use neck collar instead of body harness to lower the risk of dogs escaping.
Dog fights can happen in a cage-free environment. Given that they are animals, the only way to eliminate the risk is to separate them in cages.
Injuries from exercise e.g. sprains or ligament tears is common for dogs who are overweight or not used to exercise. Please ensure your dog is fit enough to join our program.
Flare up of allergies can cause scratching and skin infections or hotspots. Stress is known to be a contributing factor.
Dogs with poor dental health are prone to eye infections. Bacteria can also enter the blood stream to affect the heart, kidney and liver.
Scratching of eyes by the dog can cause eye ulcerations which may require surgical intervention.
Flare up of known/unknown chronic conditions. Unless your dog goes for annual blood test, its difficult to say that they are free of diseases. Additionally, some diseases may not show in blood tests until they are advanced.
Senior dogs may pass away due to organ failure or related complications. Stress can be a contributing factor to these medical conditions. The average lifespan of dogs is 10-13 years and dogs 7 years old and above are at higher risks.
Sudden acute conditions may cause death even in young dogs. Examples of these conditions include heart conditions, Gastric Dilation-Volvolus (GDV or Bloat), heatstroke, poison, trauma.
The financial risks of the risks mentioned above can range between $100 to $10,000 as vet services are very expensive. Often times more expensive than medical bills of humans!

Our responsibilities

Explain the processes and risks to owners
Provide a safe and clean environment for the dogs to rest
Feed the dogs based on owners instructions and provide access to water
Provide feedback if the dog has diarrhea, loss of appetite, sudden lethargy
Provide adequate exercise and potty breaks
Avoid walking the dogs when the weather is not suitable (too hot or rainy)
Update owners on a daily basis on how the dog is doing

Owner's responsibilities

Bring your dog to the vet for annual health check with blood test up to be in touch with their health
Ensure that relevant vaccinations and tick/flea/heartworm medication is is updated. Get advise from your vet on best practices.
Assess if your dog needs additional familiarization daycare sessions to get used to the environment
If your dog has allergies, prepare medications or cone to prevent scratching
Cultivate good eating habits by removing unfinished food in 10min
Ensure dogs nails are trimmed
If your dog has sensitive stomach or gets stress diarrhea easily, bring along probiotic supplements. The tube form is recommended.
Discuss any possible risk factors with us so that we can mitigate risks and taking extra care in avoiding stressors
If your dog cannot run or is allergic to grass, please let us know
If your dog is has indiscriminate eating and may ingest foreign bodies like plastics, toys etc, please train your dog before sending him for our services.
If your dog falls sick or goes into heat just before, please cancel the booking and find alternative arrangements.

Non-acceptance

We have the right to reject your booking if the mix of dogs is not suitable for your dog or if the physical environment is not suitable for the requested period.

Acceptance of Risk

I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE INHERENT RISKS INVOLVED IN THE BOARDING OR DAYCARE SERVICES PROVIDED, AND THAT DOGS ON BOARD CANNOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY INJURIES OR DAMAGES THAT MAY OCCUR TO MY DOG DURING THE BOARDING PERIOD.

Medical Costs

I UNDERSTAND THAT I AM SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY AND ALL MEDICAL EXPENSES INCURRED BY MY DOG DURING THE BOARDING PERIOD, AND THAT DOGS ON BOARD IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY SUCH EXPENSES.

Indemnity

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dogs on Board and its members from and against any and all claims, damages and expenses arising out of or in connection with any injury, illness, or death of my dog.

Senior Dogs

I understand that the average life span of dogs is 10-13 years and that my senior dog (7 years old and above) may pass away due to existing known or unknown conditions.
